K-pop solo star Ivy admits to getting plastic surgery, but denies she had as much done as everyone thinks.
“You didn’t do plastic surgery, right?” Yoo Sang Moo, the host of the South Korean television program “Beatles Code,” asked Ivy on Monday’s episode of the program.
Her response was boldly honest.
“I can’t say that I didn’t,” Ivy answered. “However, it’s not like how people think and that I got a whole new face.”
The singer claims she was born with many of the features that fans assumed she accomplished with plastic surgery.
“As you can see from my childhood photo, even my double eyelids are natural,” Ivy said.
On Friday the website Soompi reported that the 30-year-old star, whose real name is Park Eun Hye, has been donating all the earnings from her second promotional tour to charity.
Ivy, whose lyrical credits include SHINee’s “Last Gift” and Girls’ Generation’s “Dear. Mom” goes under the pseudonym The Lighthouse when she is credited as a songwriter.
She elaborated on what her songwriting alias means to her.
“Just like how the name ‘The Lighthouse’ implies, I wanted to be a lighthouse that gives light to the world so I started this with good intentions,” Ivy said.
“All the royalties received from the songs penned by The Lighthouse are being donated to good causes.”
“The Lighthouse” donates the money from her songwriting royalties to Christian child development agency Compassion Korea and organizations helping leukemia patients, a representative from her management agency Polaris Entertainment told the publication TenAsia last week.
Ivy released an EP of ballads called “I Dance” this year. Her last full length album was released in 2009.
On the June 24 episode of the radio program “Hong Jin Kyung’s Two O’Clock,” she recalled the time period a few years earlier, when her and actress Han Hyo Joo were roommates.
“Han Hyo Joo is quite a unique person,” Ivy said.
“I like mainstream films while she likes indie films or art films…when I watched films with her, I used to just stop watching because I couldn’t understand it.”
Previously on the program “Strong Heart,” Ivy had revealed that her and Han lived together throughout most of their early years as performers.
“”I lived with Han Hyo Joo for four years before I debuted,” she said.
“Even when we just debuted, we watched each other on TV and gave each other a lot of advice. We were best friends.”
