In response to the criticism Clara has been getting for not attending the funeral of the deceased Ladies' Code members as revealed in her KakaoTalk history, her side explained that this was because Clara had not known the Ladies' Code members and she had been in a conflict with Polaris Entertainment at the time of the funeral. However, netizens are now pointing out that Clara and RiSe did know each other.
On January 19, Dispatch disclosed Clara and Chairman Lee's text message conversations. As some of the conversations occurred immediately after Ladies' Code's tragic car accident, which resulted in the deaths of members EunB and RiSe, Chairman Lee is seen asking Clara why she neither gave her condolences nor attended the funeral as a fellow labelmate.
The text message exchange shows Clara replying to Chairman Lee's protests with, "Chairman, my heart hurts, too. I wanted to go see EunB, but I'm sorry I couldn't go. I'm mourning, too," "I want to just focus on work. Have strength, chairman," and, "Chairman, my heart hurts and I'm tired emotionally, as well. Please help me so we can go back to our past relationship. I hope everything goes well."
On the same day, Clara's side claimed that the text messages were pieced together out of chronological order with the intention of tarnishing Clara's image. They further added, "Clara's relationship with Polaris was not good when Ladies' Code's EunB and RiSe passed away. Clara never met Ladies' Code and didn't know them. In a situation when she is in a conflict with the agency, how could Chairman Lee ask her to attend [the funeral]?"
However, news outlets are pointing out that Clara actually did in fact meet Ladies' Code member RiSe. Reports state that Clara and RiSe both participated in MBC's 'Star Diving Show Splash' back in 2013. In the screenshots shown below, Clara and RiSe can both be seen filming for the same episode. News outlets point out that even if the two had not been friends, they at least must have known of each other as they had filmed together.
