Top star Jeon Ji-hyeon is currently up in the throne for her popularity domesticallyand internationally. She met great success with the recent SBS drama “My Love from the Star” and is causing a shockwave in China.
Jeon Ji-hyeon has been showered with fan meetings, dramas, movies, advertisements and collections. Everything about her is becoming a trend and she is the hottest icon in China. Apparently, she’s unlike other Hallyu stars and usually when a drama ends so does the popularity of a star but Jeon Ji-hyeon is being supported more and more.
Jeon Ji-hyeon is in fact, already a major star in China. Her 2001 movie “My Sassy Girl” made her popular in China and Hong Kong and she continued onto Chinesemovies like “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan”.
The way she ‘broke down’ like she did so in the drama “My Love from the Star” is part of the reason for such a bigger response. She doesn’t even use the Chinese Facebook Weibo but she’s the most searched actress on it. The chicken and beer rave also comes from the drama. More than 600 thousand items are related to the star in the biggest Chinese online shopping mall Tao Bao.
Jeon Ji-hyeon‘s agency claims, “She’s been popular in China but this time it’s different. She’s being offered model roles for every brand possible and offered scripts from dramas to movies. We are thinking of a closer way to reach the fans and not just a one-day fan meeting”.
