130930 Photographs of First Script Reading for Upcoming MBC drama "Empress Ki" Released

Recently, photographs of the cast and crew’s first script reading for MBC drama “Empress Ki” were released. Ha Ji Won, Joo Jin Mo, Ji Chang Wook, Jung Woong In, and Kim Seo Hyeong, along with PDs Han Hee and Lee Seong Jun and writersJang Yeong Cheol and Jeong Gyeong Sun, met to introduce themselves and start working on their chemistry at the MBC Dream Center located in Ilsan, South Korea.

The script reading went on for about four hours, and the actors and actresses showed that they were completely absorbed in their characters and seriously focused on the rehearsal. Production staff were impressed by the casts’ commitment to their characters. Ha Ji Won used her break to further discuss her character with the PDs and writers, and commented that viewers should look forward to the new drama.

MBC drama “Empress Ki” will premiere on October 21 and will air on Mondays and Tuesdays at 10pm (KST).

130928 Park Han Byul to Make Drama Comeback

Actress Park Han Byul will be making her silver screen comeback.

According to her agency, JF Entertainment, the actress has been cast as one of the main cast members of the upcoming SBS drama “A Well Grown Daughter.” The agency told Star News in a phone interview, “Although the contract has not been signed yet, she has been positively reviewing it.”

Park Han Byul will play the fourth daughter of a family who has been making soy sauce for hundreds of years. In the drama Park Han Byul’s character dresses up as a man because of her family’s financial situation.

Park Han Byul’s last drama was in 2011 for MBN‘s “Bolder by the Day.”

“A Well Grown Daughter” will air its first episode in November.

130929 JYJ, Kara, Yoon Eun Hye and More Lead the Halfway Results for the "Korean Entertainment 10th Anniversary Awards in Japan"

The “Korean Entertainment 10th Anniversary Awards in Japan” will be held on October 19 in Chiba prefecture, Japan to celebrate 10 years of Hallyu in the Land of the Rising Sun.

To award the top players of Hallyu in Japan, public voting is proceeding at the Korean Entertainment Awards homepage (ke10th.jp). The halfway results are in, and the top artists will be no surprise for those familiar with Hallyu.

For the top awards in music, JYJ, Jaejoong, Kara, and BoA are leading in the various categories. JYJ leads the best male group category, JYJ member Jaejoong in the best male solo, Kara in the best female group, and BoA leads the best female solo.

For the top awards in drama, whose voting started on June 22, “Winter Sonata” is leading the drama category, while its lead Bae Yong Joon heads the best male actor, and Yoon Eun Hye leads the best female actor category.

Park Sin-hye plays the role of Cha Eun-sang, a hard working girl in a reality of poverty in the new SBS drama “The Heirs” which is to be aired for the first time on the 9th of October.

Park Sin-hye was seen filming for this drama in a desert in LA on the 10th. The pictures of her are so perfect she doesn’t even need editing or brushing up.

Apparently, Park didn’t utter a single word of complain while filming in the rough conditions of the desert. The atmosphere was as hot as the desert itself.

It was found that Song Hye Kyo’s is the face most preferred to be copied among the women. She is widely acknowledged as the best face to represent Korea.

130926 Yoon Eun Hye & Jung Yong Hwa vs. Park Shin Hye & Kim Woo Bin: The Battle of the Convenience Store Date

Coincidence? Maybe. Perfect timing? YES. Let the battle begin.

Yesterday, Kim Woo Bin made headlines twice, first for making lovey dovey eyes at his real life girlfriend Yoo Ji Ahn, and again for using those same eyes to shoot lasers at Park Shin Hye in stills for SBS’ upcoming drama “The Heirs.” The latter took place in front of a convenience store, a staple of Seoul’s city life, where beers, coffee, ice cream, and ramen are shared between friends and, apparently, future subjects of complicated love triangles.

Today, stills of love triangle candidates Yoon Eun Hye and Jung Yong Hwa from the upcoming KBS drama “Future Choice” have been released, which show the two on a “moonlight date” in front of a convenience store somewhere in Seoul. In this scene Yoon Eun Hye’s character, Mi Rae, is confiding to Jung Yong Hwa’s character, Park Se Joo, about her bitter life.

Considering that the role that Jung Yong Hwa was offered for his former casting in the “The Heirs” was probably Kim Woo Bin’s role now, it is fun to see these two similar scenes side by side and imagine the possibilities.

In “The Heirs,” Kim Woo Bin plays an heir to a resort with an IQ of 150 and something that every K-drama lead has these day- charisma. In “Future Choice,” Jung Yong Hwa also has charisma- the smooth kind as opposed to Kim Woo Bin’s cold oned- and is an undercover boss with a secret. How will these two characters differ, and how will each character’s love triangle develop? It’s going to very busy for the next few months for K-drama fans.

130926 Lee Young-ae denies strange rumor

Actress Han Chae-young is strongly denying rumors that leading actress Lee Young-ae is her mother-in-law.

The unusual gossip that Lee’s husband was secretly the father of Han’s husband whipped up quickly online yesterday.

But it did not take long for Lee’s lawyers to pounce on the rumors. “Many netizens have defamed the dignity of Lee’s family, posting false information online as if it is the truth”, said the lawyer for the law firm Da Dam.

The firm filed complaints with the Yongsan district police against some of the netizens and online bloggers who spread the reports. “Keeping quiet can result in defamation, so we decided to sue in order to correct the situation”, said the representative.

Han’s agency has also reportedly said that Han is perplexed by the rumors as her husband is not a celebrity and his information is not widely known by the public.

130924 Yoon Eun Hye Is as "Energetic" as Her Hair in Latest Stills from "Future Choice"

This can’t be avoided. All eyes are drawn to Yoon Eun Hye’s hair in the latest stills of the actress from the upcoming KBS drama “Future Choice.”

These stills show Yoon Eun Hye emerged in her character, Na Mi Rae, a call-center contracted employee at a large company. She is described as a bright and energetic young woman who continuously strives toward her dream. In the stills, she is performing at a company talent show, hoping to win trip to a resort. Just like in the scene shown in the first set of stills released previously, Yoon Eun Hye filmed this scene without any NGs. 

“Future Choice” follows the life of Na Mi Rae who one day meets a person who claims to be her future self. Na Mi Rae decides to follow the advice of her future self and forge a new path. It will premiere on Monday, October 14, and will air on Mondays and Tuesdays on KBS.

Actress Kim Tae-hee of the SBS drama “Jang Ok-jeong” has been focused on working out to keep her body in top condition.

According to local media reports, an official at Kim’s management agency was quoted as saying that Kim has been working out a lot because she has been taking part in many photo shoots and commercials since the period drama “Jang Ok-jeong” ended in June.

“It is hard to take part in a new work this year, and it is expected that she will meet fans in another good work next year”, said the official.

Yoon Eun-hye and Lee Dong-geon star in the new KBS drama “Choice of the Future” as Na Mi-rae who runs towards her dreams and Kim Sin, a cold and bad tempered announcer.

Their first encounter started on the 14th in Seoul. They greeted each other with enthusiasm and got along well. They then read their scripts together and went over their route.

Acting together for the first time, Yoon and Lee showed perfect teamwork despite the fact that they met for the first time. They gave and passed ad lips with no trouble and created a scene without any NG’s.

Yoon and Lee encouraged the other staffs despite the long hours of filming and never showed any signs of exhaustion. They took care of each other even during short breaks and were very professional. They didn’t forget to smile at each other when the director shouted ‘Cut!’

Actress Kim Tae Hee has been busy with commercials.

One staff member of Kim Tae Hee’s agency revealed yesterday during an interview, “Kim Tae Hee has been busy filming for commercials and photo shoots. She probably won’t be doing other work until next year.”

Kim Tae Hee recently finished the SBS drama “Jang Ok Jung, Lives in Love.” The drama finished in June of this year.

The staff member said, “It would be hard for her to find another work this year so she will probably choose one next year.”

130923 Lee Young-ae’s Renaissance

Iconic actress Lee Young-ae, who became one of Asia’s biggest stars thanks to her hit drama “Dae Jang Geum” a decade ago, hosted a special Korean cuisine showcase last week in Italy, in cooperation with Italian luxury label Gucci, the brand’s local PR representative announced yesterday.

The dinner was held in Florence, a city that has shown great interest in Korean culture, most notably by hosting a Korean film festival for the past 11 years.

Despite the interest, Korean food has not been properly introduced in the venerable Italian city, which is nearly without any Korean restaurants, so the Italian fashion house decided to promote Korean cuisine there together with Lee.

“It makes my heart race that I can share Korean cuisine in this city with 2,000 years of history”, said Lee during the dinner.

“To Koreans, sharing food means sharing friendship, and I hope this will be a stepping stone for Korea and Italy to grow closer”.

On hand at the dinner were many leading local luminaries of the arts, including Riccardo Gelli, director of Florence Korea Film Festival.

The results can soon be seen as part of an SBS documentary, tentatively titled “Lee Young-ae‘s Feast”. The program is scheduled to air during the Lunar New Year holiday next year.

Lee Min-ho and Park Sin-hye in the new SBS drama “The Heirs” were seen filming at an almond farm.

The drama is being filmed in the US for a more perfect quality of the drama. The drama has been filming in very foreign and scenic places such as Malibu Beach in LA and Hollywood.

Lee Min-ho and Park Sin-hye were seen at an almond farm on the 8th. They are looking at each other behind a spring cooler spraying water. The two have shown great teamwork up until now with thorough rehearsals and script reading. They go over their routes and ideas with the producer before going in front of the camera and melting into their given roles.

Lee Min-ho was in a suit in the unexpectedly hot weather and said, “Everyone had a hard time filming outside with no shade the while day but we worked hard to create a good scene. It was nice filming with nature”.

Hwa and Dam Pictures say, “Lee Min-ho and Park Sin-hye are exhausted from the endless filming since the very time they got here but their passion for their work hasn’t changed. As much as everyone worked hard for this, the result will be that much more satisfactory”.
